Our History — The Story Behind Stony Ridge
Family built. Horse driven. Established 2015.
Stony Ridge began in 2015, born from a family's shared passion for horses, country life and the equestrian industry.
Originally established in Murray Bridge, South Australia, Stony Ridge has grown alongside the five girls who were raised surrounded by horses, cattle, competitions and the everyday responsibilities of rural life.
From their earliest days in the saddle, horses have been much more than a hobby. Campdrafting, gymkhanas, barrel racing and other equestrian pursuits have played an important role in shaping the girls' riding abilities, horsemanship and understanding of horses.
Following the family's move to Loveday in the Riverland, Stony Ridge began a new chapter. What started as a run-down rural property is gradually being transformed through plenty of hard work, determination and a shared vision of creating a quality equestrian facility.
The Next Generation
Today, Stony Ridge is proudly operated by sisters Ry-Leigh and Kelsey, with Tully and Jaymee-Lee playing important roles in the training and riding programs.
Ry-Leigh has developed extensive hands-on experience in horse handling, groundwork, starting young horses and their ongoing education. Her practical approach to training and riding forms an important part of Stony Ridge's horse development and lesson programs.
Kelsey brings a lifetime of experience around horses and the practical knowledge gained through growing up in a competitive equestrian family. Alongside Ry-Leigh, she plays an important role in operating and developing Stony Ridge.
Tully has grown up participating in a variety of equestrian disciplines, including campdrafting, gymkhanas and Stockman's Challenges. Her experience with groundwork, young horses and competition preparation contributes to both the horse training and riding instruction offered at Stony Ridge.
Jaymee-Lee has also grown up in the saddle, developing her riding skills and horsemanship alongside her sisters. With a patient and encouraging approach, she particularly enjoys helping nervous and inexperienced riders build their confidence.
Sharing Our Passion
Having spent much of their lives learning, competing, training and working with horses, the girls understand the value of good foundations, patience and practical horsemanship.
Their experiences across different equestrian disciplines have shaped Stony Ridge's approach to education — producing confident riders who understand and respect the horses they work with.
Today, Stony Ridge offers structured riding lessons, horse training and development, with a focus on helping riders of all abilities achieve their individual goals.
While the facilities continue to grow and evolve, the values behind Stony Ridge remain unchanged: family, hard work, quality horsemanship and a genuine love of horses.
At Stony Ridge, we're not just sharing what we know — we're passing on the passion that started it all.
